Get from Guard.

Go to La Thiene Plateau and talk to Vicorpasse (F-6), he's down in the north trench (there are about 8 NPCs here), close to the ordelle's caves entrance. You probably don't need to talk to the rest of them, but you might as well since they're on the way to the caves.

Just inside Ordelle's caves, to the left, in the water and behind a rock you'll find Ruillout. (Not to be confused with the Eco-warrior NPC.) After talking with him, head outside and talk to Deaufrain.

note: it really annoys me that the other NPCs don't say anything different at this time. You found Ruillont but you can't tell them that, and they just ask where he is like before… for a game so well crafted, these small but obvious flaws are like the ugly fly in the middle of a beautiful soup. How bad would one more sentence of text have been for these NPCs? Seriously...

ONE of the random soliders outside the Caves gives you a regular old Bronze Sword (I wonder if you could just buy one...) which you trade to Ruillont.

After talking to Ruillont, ralk to Vicorpasse again to get the Rescue Training Certificate - The bearer of this certificate has successfully completed rescue training on the La Theine Platea.

After that head back to town and finish the mission with the guard.

Note: Attempting to give Ruillont any old Bronze Sword results in him saying "I appreciate the offer, but this is not mine." =(

However, after getting his real sword from the guard, you can trade him the fake replacement sword and he'll accept it >.>;
