Strategy:
(per Naria - Mod'd slightly by Chunk :3)

We found this rather irritating on our first attempt. Unlike the well-known escort missions, you cannot control this NPC directly. He doesn't aggro, but he's extremely fickle. If you stand too close to his face, he claims you have bad breath. If you don't keep someone behind him, he makes a break for it and runs back to the start.

We think the best plan is:
Keep one person behind the NPC AT ALL TIMES and have everyone else run ahead and kill all the crabs in the first 6 rooms. Then send one person back to usher the NPC forward, and prevent them from retreating. (You can not send anyone "back" for him, he will "escape after being alone for so long and you will instantly fail the mission.) The other 5 go ahead and start clearing mobs in one side of the fork (the path forks further south). If the NPC chooses the path you are clearing, clear it, or train it ahead of him and clear them out there so you don't have trouble with the NPC.
If the NPC chooses the other path, have someone train everything out of his way and die somewhere. We think hate is not shared.

Don't crowd the NPC, but don't let him run away… and good luck with it.

Chunk's NPC Guide Guide (>.>;): Lock-on and stay the "good" distance away. If you get too close he'll stop and complain, stay just outside of that and you should be fine. Always be facing his back. Never let him get too far ahead or he'll start to sprint backwards till he's out of breath. When he goes into a room he'll stare at sign for a while - stay your good distance and wait, he'll start moving again and then you can pivot to his backside again. Get close to him when you want him to stop (almost have to be right on top of him unless he is stopping in a room heh..). DO NOT LET HIM SEE A MOB, he will run until he's out of breath (or even further if unattended probably...). Other than that you should be fine - this Assault was super easy when I found out how to do it. With 6 people you have plenty of time to kill everything and take him to safety with plenty of time to spare (I had him run back twice and then found out how it works and we finished with 2~3 minutes to spare, finished clearing all of the mobs with full party with about 7~8min left.
