Promyvion-Mea

Promyvion Mea Strategy
What to Bring

  • Mages: echo drops (stuff on the way silences you), and yagudo drinks
  • Melees: antidotes (~4), Hi-potions (12, or heck, 30 if you want)
Ideal Party (and you can win with a lot less of an ideal team)
Pld/War, Rng/nin, Rng/nin, Whm/blm, Blm/whm and X
Where X = Smn, 3rd Rng, Brd, 2nd Blm, or Rdm.
A more minimum party is: Rng or Blm or Smn, Rng or Blm or Smn, healer, tank, any, any. You probably want one of those anys to have cure spells in some fashion. Oh yea, Bst counts as a Smn for these purposes.

Getting There
This is easy, An alliance of 12 can get there, 18 is fine too. Once you're inside the promy, scan for a memory receptacle. Note that the islands are separate and you need to find a receptacle you can get to. Kill or avoid the empties along the way. Cravers are the hardest kind. First level is super easy. They aggro sight, but I believe they have true-sight.

Found a receptacle? tanks grab a couple "Stray" and drag them back away from the receptacle, kill em. Rngs fire at the receptacle from max range, recast utsusemi whenever you lose shadows. Smn send in your avatars to beat on the receptacle, but stay back yourself. Blm can nuke receptacle or just help with strays. When receptacle dies, you have 2 minutes. Yes, 120 seconds, to kill of strays and get to the platform. This is only if a portal appears (it takes a bit of time for it to appear, don't judge too fast). If it appears, kill all the strays first (or occupy them with summons). Then you can all go to the portal. If someone gets stuck you all have to go back, so you might as well be sure you can all make it by killing the strays.

If it doesn't make a portal, find another receptacle and try again.

Reapeat that process for the second and third floors. They get harder as you go.

Fourth Floor There aren't any receptacles here, but the empties are IT++. You can kill them as an alliance of 12, but you should avoid it as much as you can to save time. You're looking for a big fat tower thing. I think it's always SE of where you start. The zone line is actually an archway sort of area out in front of the tower. All you need to do is zone in, so if you get close you can throw a smn at an empty and run for it. If people die but most of you make it inside, wait a bit and try to go out and raise them. Again utsusemi really shines here.

BCNM Battle
You will find an uncapped area before the BCNM, this exists just so they can have a capped BCNM which kills your buffs as you enter. So rest to full mp, then enter. Buff up, food, and rest to full MP again. Only then should you attack.

Ideal Strategy Pld runs in, takes a swing at it and vokes. Rng/Smn/Blm types run to the far side, left side and right side. Stay spread out from each other and near the edges. Healer types hang out at the edge where you came in. Pld kites, vokes, kites, heals, and kites some more. Rng/Blm types take cheap shots at it. When you get hate, kite it around till Pld vokes it off. If it poisons you, antidote yourself, this is some serious poisoning it has.

  • Important: Rng types > if you lose shadows, even just one, recast utsusemi once someone gets it off you. Never be without shadows.
  • Healers: if the thing comes for you, don't run back towards the entrance, just take your turn kiting it around the room. Pld or a Rng will get it off you soon.
It'll seem really easy for the first 50% or so, and then it will try to carousel a lot. Carouel is a nasty AoE with knockback that can deal 300-400+ damage. The entire reason for kiting and spreading out is to avoid Carousel as much as you can. It'll use it less if you kite, and hopefully it will never catch more than 2 of you at a time with this devastating attack.

30-40% HP remaining on the boss = 2hr time. If you have a smn, you'll want to pause the kiting for a bit so they can 2hr and repeatedly use powers while under astral flow. You might want to have Pld use 2hr after first astral-avatar attack, to prevent smn from getting smeared.
Rangers should 2hr after this, at 20% hp or less. If you only have one Rng they'll want to use 2hr very late, or else they will die before they can ditch hate.

Note also, if you do well in avoiding the Carousel, you probably won't need to 2hr at all with the "ideal" setup.

Finally, you only really need to use Hi-potions if you get to 150 or less and whm doesn't heal you immediately, or at the end of the fight when people start dying. Also you might use 6 potions and lose, but want to try again with the second 6 potions.

Once you win you (only one member needs to be alive for all to win, of course) you get transported out.

Addendum
Beat this again with a tankless party: Rng, Brd, Blm, Whm, Blm, Smn. Basically a single shot from me, or even casting utsusemi would almost always get me hate off the Blms. So I was the main tank. I think I got off about 5 shots (plus a barrage and eagle) and spent most of the time kiting it. It only used carousel on us once. I'm starting to think I just had bad luck the first time, and that this one's really not that hard, especially if you kite it.
