What is a Paladin?

Well, to put it bluntly, a Paladin is just basically a meat shield, a beating post, or more commonly known as a tank. Our job might not be the most glamorous, but we perform one of the most important duties in a party: take damage.

We take the beatings because we have the highest defense in the game. We take the beatings so mages can heal easier by concentrating on one party member. We take the beatings so other melees and black mages can concentrate on doing damage without worrying about getting hit. We take the beatings because that is what we do best.

Paladin job might sound simple, but it take skills to play the position right. Keeping hate is not as simple as provoke every 30 seconds when you have over-nuking BLM in the party. You must use your job abilities wisely and cure to keep hate (doing this while getting hit – so if you ever hear mages complaining about spell interruption, /slap them for me), yet you must conserve MP so your party can chain effectively.

And the most important part of all in being a Paladin, you must not be afraid of deaths or get upset every time you die because if you do, you won’t enjoy this job at all. Paladin dies (especially if you have inattentive mages in the group) and dies first. So don’t take things too harshly when you keep dropping to the group.

Road to Becoming a Paladin

Paladin is an advance job, so that means that you have to level one job to level 30 first before you can start it. The job that you should level up to 30 before getting Paladin is the one and only: Warrior. Warrior is the best subjob for Paladin, plain and simple and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. So when you level Warrior to 30 and start up Paladin, you’ll have updated subjob until level 60.

Once you get to 30, do the following quests to attain the job:
