Mission

LightBringer

  • Accept the Lightbringer Mission from any one of San d'Oria's gate guards. These guards are Ambrotien in Southern San d'Oria (K-10), Endracion also in Southern San d'Oria (F-9), or Grilau in Northern San d'Oria (D-8).
  • Next, visit King Destin in the Chateau d'Oraguille (this can sometimes be accomplished by clicking on the King's doors, talking to the King's guards, or talking to Halver).
  • Talk to Rahal in the Royal Knights' Quarters (H-9) in the Chateau d'Oraguille (first door on your left when you enter the castle). He will give you the key item: Crystal Drowser.
  • Now, you will need to travel to the Temple of Uggalepih in Yhoator Jungle.
  • Defeat Tonberry Stabbers for a Prelate Key (Rare/Ex). Tonberry Stabbers are located in the Sozu Rogberry / Bonze Marberry area of the Temple. There are very few Stabbers here, and many of those that are easier-to-get-to are put down by players who camp the Thief's Knife.
  • You can also attempt to skip the key by using the door trick. Defeat the Temple Guardian to get into the Temple of Uggalepih's foyer. This area is where the Manipulator roams up and down the stairs. At the top of these stairs are two Granite Doors. You can try the door trick at either door. Push yourself up close to the door, face first, and then direct your camera angle to your side and then straight up. You should be able to see on the other side of the door. If you cycle through your target selection, you should be able to target the next closest Tonberry. Once you have them targeted, you can cast a spell on them or hit them through the door with a ranged weapon. When the come after you, they will sometimes open the door for you on their way out.
  • Open the Granite Door using the Prelate Key or by the door trick. Although either door will get you to your final destination, it is recommended that you open the door directly above the foyer entrance (where you entered after defeating the Temple Guardian. Please keep in mind that the Prelate Key can only be used one time; after it has been traded to the Granite Door, it will disappear.
  • Go straight and take your first left when the road splits. Follow this path up some stairs and you should see a long hallway with a series of four doors. This is where the NM fight will take place. Clear the hallway of all Tonberries, Magic Pots, and Dolls.
  • Enter doors #1, #2, and #4 (door #3 will not open), and examine all of the subsequent ??? that you find there. You should read a something about the Lightbringer Sword and pick up three key items, all of them being pieces of a broken key.
  • After you have all three pieces of the broken key, buff and rest if you need (this is highly recommended). When everyone is ready, examine door #3 to spawn the NMs.
  • You will be fighting Nio-Hum and Nio-A. They are Magic Dolls and they are pretty tough.
  • Once they are defeated, examine door #3 again to get your final key item.
  • Return to San d'Oria to complete the mission and obtain your reward.
* The Lightbringer is supposedly the most powerful and legendary sword in all of Final Fantasy XI and there are many other quests and storylines that revolve around it. It's too bad it's not an equipable item. ^^

Reward: Rank 9 and 80,000 gil
