In order to keep this game fresh and not having to repeat many of the things we did in the beta (some things are unavoidable and we must repeat – like the trip up the tower for mission 9 -_-), I have been researching (visiting websites, reading guides, and forums) for alternate spots for us to level.

I’m assuming most, if not all of us will be starting in Bastok, so I’ll go from there.

LevelsSuggested RegionsWhat to KillOther Notes
1-10Zarunh Mine and South GusterburgDecent and Even mobsYou know the drill here – just solo your way up to ten by killing decent and even mobs. Couple hours of work at worst. Mages might need to form a party of two or three to help level.
10-15Highland, Valkurm Dunes, Dangruf Wadi and Palborough MinesForm parties and kill tough and very tough mobsNot much option here, so I guess we’ll follow the same routine.
15-20Korroloka TunnelWormsThis is where we’ll experience something new! Because since the expansion will be available right away, we can just chain the worms in Korroloka Tunnels. No need to waste time running all the way to Valkurm Dunes and get ambush by goblins! I heard from importer that we can get from 15-20 chaining worms in one late night session (4-5 hours). Another alternative would be Shakrami Maze, but that’s only viable option if you’re Windurst base.
20-25Korroloka TunnelBats, Spiders, and CrabsWe can come back to Bastok (after we get our chocobo from Jeuno) and continue to level in Korroloka Tunnel by killing new stuffs and moving in deeper. However, I fear most of you will be tempted to stay in Jeuno and level in Qufim (you damn masochist! :P). But you must remember that in retail there will be way more people and Qufim will be very crowded (not to mention you will get links, trains, and jumps – I hate Dancing Weapons!), so I urge you that we please not level in Qufim? Please? With sugar (or cracks) on top?
25-30Batallia, East Altepa, and Yutunga JungleGoblins, Spiders, MandragorasWe can level in Batallia or we can move into East Altepa and kill spiders near the entrance. We can also level in Yutunga Jungle (exits from Kazham) once we done M10 and are leveling our advance jobs.
30-35East Altepa/West Altepa and Jugner ForestAnticans, Beetles, Dalmels, Spiders and King CrabsThis is when we went to Davoi, but there are only two leveling spots in Davoi and I would imagine they will be pack in retail. Therefore, we can stay in East Altepa and kill Antians, Beetles, and Dalmels. Or West Altepa and kill some spiders. Or we can go kill some king crabs in Jugner Forest, but remember, those crabs link!
35-40Eldieme NecropolisGazers and Lost SoulsWell, this is when everyone (and I mean everyone!) settle into the CrawlNest and stay for the long haul (35-45). Do we really want to do that again? I mean, as much as I dislike Qufim, I hate this place ten times worst! Now that there’ll be more people in retail, this place is going be pack and every group will be fighting for crawlers and beetles to kill.

This is where we plan to stop leveling (the first go round) and finish up missions nine and ten, activate our desire advance jobs (helping each other finish all the advance jobs quests), and go level our advance jobs (which will now be our main -- well, for most of us anyway).

And once we reach/get pass these levels with our advance jobs, we’ll be leveling in Quicksand Caves, Garlaige Citadel, etc., etc. I’ll update this guide when we actually get there.
