Strategy:
This guide is from my personal experience on going 19-0 on this BCNM60. As usual, take from it what you will and adapt it to fit your party setup.

Example Party Setup:

PLD - The tank.
DRK - Stunner, in charge of stun order.
BLM - Dmg dealer, takes part in stun order.
WHM - Main healer, preferrably with /SMN.
WHM/RDM/BLM/SMN - That's either a whm or rdm or blm, not much difference.
THF or ???/THF - Melee of your choice.
??? - Melee of your choice.

As you can see, the role of the 3rd mage is very flexible. If this is your first attempt, I would recommend two blms, since that would give you more ppl to Stun.

To the strategy:

Before the fight:

  • This is an uncapped bcnm, so feel free and buff up before the fight and get the normal bcnm foods. No need for poison potions.
  • If you have alot of 70s++, you might wanna take a whm 70+ for Raise III incase someone dies during the battle. The exit for this bcnm is unreachable from the rest of Fei'Yin.
  • Before entering, decide on a stun order, and have each stunner make a party chat macro with their stun, so the next stunner knows it's his/her turn to stun the pot.
The fight:
  • Upon entering, you'll be presented with several pots, once you attack one, the others will disappear. Word on the street is that the air pot is the easiest, so we stuck with that one.
  • If you have a THF or /THF, have them staple the hate onto your PLD with Sneak Attack/Trick Attack at the beginning of the fight.
  • From here, treat it as a straight up battle, have the mages step back and let the PLD and melees work it down. Stun when the pot starts to cast as nasty -ga or ancient magic spell.
  • Only additional tip is if you have a SMN or /SMN in the party. Have them keep aerial armor on your tank up for the next part...
  • After a while, the pot will use it's two hour ability (Chainspell). After a few rounds in this bcnm, your PLD should be able to recognize the start of this animation and be able to start running away before the animation for the two hour completes. Your stunners may or may not be able to stun in time. If your stunners miss the first spell after Chainspell (which is almost always Ancient Magic), Aerial Armor should eat it (or Blink if your PLD is subbing NIN), and by the time that is over, your PLD should be outta range.
  • Kite the pot up and down the main hallway in the bcnm area until Chainspell is over. This should still be doable even if it manages to take out your PLD. Use the regular spells/abilities to slow it down (gravity, bind, shadowbind, etc.) and keep using the stun order if it gets too close and starts casting. If your PLD did die, don't panic. Raise them while your other melees and mages are busy kiting the pot.
  • While kiting, make sure to keep the pot engaged, once disengaged, the pot will start to regen.
  • After Chainspell is over, bring it back to the main room, and tank/kill the pot as usual.
Notes:
  • If your BLM nukes hard in the beginning and your PLD dies from the two hour, the pot will go for them. Keep that in mind and have your BLM nuke soft until after the Chainspell.
  • Since this battle is uncapped, you can have more stunners in this party w/o adding more DRKs or BLMs. Just have your lvl 74s sub DRK. =P.
  • Oh yeah, the drop rates for this bcnm are really crappy. The 19 times we did the bcnm, we only got ONE damascus ingot (no damascene and no raise 3 scrolls). Philosopher Stones seemed to be the most common drop (1-3 on each round).
