The amount you have to pay I think varies depending upon your rank; 10,000 gil is what I paid with Rank 5. My fame did not increase significantly, because Ney Hiparujah, the fame-checker NPC in Kazham, gave me the same fame level response. Prices in the Kazham shops did go down a little after doing the quest.
