ClientSummary
Soun Abralah (Ryuhkowa's Mercenary Merchandise, Kazham)Journey to the Yuhtunga Jungle and retrieve a piece of firebloom wood from the most fire-resistant side of the Firebloom Tree. To check the most fire-resistant side, you must take a vine from each side of the tree to Ifrit's Cauldron for testing.

After receiving this quest from Soun Abralah, you must travel to Yuhtunga Jungle ( - ) and get four pieces of the Firebloom Tree Root. There will be a north root, an east root, a west root and a south root. You must get one of each in order to proceed.

Next, travel to Ifrit's Cauldron from ( - ) of Yhoator Jungle. There are four Flame Spouts in this dungeon. Each one is guarded by a bomb (Volcanic Gas and/or ???) which aggros on sight, but not on sound.

Examine the Flame Sprout and one of your Firebloom Tree roots will burn up in the fire. You must examine 3 of the 4 Flame Sprouts (because 3 of the 4 Firebloom Roots will burn up, save one).

Flame Spouts can be extinguished by trading an Ice Cluster to them (for the extremely impatient). However, the Flame Spouts WILL actually receed from time to time (but only for a few seconds).

The best strategy for those who are soloing this is to wait for the Bomb to turn its back (so you're not in direct site), run up to the Flame Spout, touch the flame and either a) immediately trade an Ice Cluster in order to pass and/or b) use a Prism Powder. Bomb's will aggro to magic, and there are a lot of them in Ifrit's Cauldron, so magic is generally just bad.

When you have dissolved three of the four roots, take special care in which one remained (e.g. north, east, west, or south root). Go back to the Firebloom Tree and cut from the side that was the most fire resistant. Take this back to Soun for your reward.

Reward: 5000 gil

Oooo, i think i know where to take the vine in the Cauldron. It's scary wary tho, gaurded by one of those bomb dudes...Volcanic Gas (level 61+++). He hovers right over the point in question, so we can't sneak this one.

I remember one of those dudes killing me in one hit back in beta at level 42… :(

I remember that point too, Mashengo. There's no way of telling (yet) whether that's the actual spot to test the wood, but if it is, it might be as easy as using a ranged attack to provoke that bomb and then using Flee to lure it away while everybody dips their wood. =)

There was actually two spots I came across. One was just a regular ???, while the other had a name (i forget the actual words). The ??? was accessible and was located on a small lava pond. It's the other one which was guarded by the big bad bomb.

Hehe, all this is moot if the firewood tree is just as guarded, hopefully, it's in the easy parts of the jungle where only easy or weak mobs roam…
