You can either pick Joulet or Gallijaux for this quest.

Every time you turn in a moat carp, you recieve 10 gil. If he recieves 10,000 moat carp, you get the best fishing pole in the game.

I finally received Lu Shang's fishing rod on June 11th, 2006 by completing The Competition quest. In three years playing, this was one of those quests that I never thought I was going to finish; mostly because I only traded Moat Carp every so often and am really not that "into" fishing.

Nonetheless, it felt like quite the accomplishment, so here are some screenshots that I took as I finished the quest:

• Here's Ufanne telling me that I have traded Joulet 9,999 moat carp!

• On trading my 10,000th moat carp to Joulet, I received Lu Shang's Fishing Rod!

• You also get a Testimonial key item with your rod.

• The title you get for finishing the quest is Carp Diem!
