| | Lageegee (Aht Urhgan Whitegate) (L-9) A squad sent in to search for the Seagull Phratrie hideout has failed to report. Find any survivors, especially one Private Ryaaf, a relative of the Galeserpent General.
|
Area:
PeriqiaObjective:
Find the survivors.
Recruitment:
Lv.70, 3-6 mercenaries.
Time Limit:
30 minutes
Come prepared with:
- Reraise Gorget/Hairpin
- Somebody with Widescan ability
Periqia: Saving Private Ryaff
- x8 Experimental Undead (Fomor)
- x15 Cursed Chigoe (Chigoe)
Strategy (per Juhle):
A couple of things to note on this Assault:
The
Cursed Chigoes have a ton of HP; but they die instantly from a Weaponskill or from a Critical Hit. So be sure to equip your +Critical Hit equipment or take a Samurai or job /SAM in order to gain TP quickly. AOE weaponskills like Cyclone are a definite plus.
Both the
Chigoes and the
Experimental Undead are True Sight; they can see past Sneak, Invisible, and Deodorize. The
Experimental Undead appear
RANDOMLY in the halls. The map above show you approximations of where they appeared each time we've done this Assault, but they're always in slightly different locations. Try to avoid the
Experimental Undead in the halls if you can; they have a ton of HP and constantly drain your TP (typical fomor maneuvers)—they also tend to hit rather hard (around 150 a hit). Having a Ranger or /RNG is good to see where they are on the map since the twisty turns in
Periqia sometimes obscure your vision.
There are five rooms in this dungeon, three of them contain the soliders
Ryaff and
Balarahb and
Rhagmakah. The other two contain
Experimental Undead fomors that are slightly easier than the ones you will find outside in the hallways. These "NPCs" aren't targetable until you approach them; they appear as they are resting/healing usually on top of one of the platforms, or inside one of the prison cells. You will not know which is a "real" solider and which is a fomor until you walk up next to them—this essentially "activates" them. You do not need to "talk" to the NPC or click on them; just getting close to them will either turn them into a fomor or turn them into a friendly NPC that will stand up, speak a few lines of text, and then disappear. At no time do you ever need to interact with these NPCs other than getting close enough to them to "activate" them (essentially, close enough to touch them).
You also do not need to kill the Chigoes in order to rescue the prisoners. For all intents and purposes, you can just run past the Chigoes, run up to the resting NPC, and run away.
Also: you need to rescue ALL THREE prisoners. All though this Assault is called "Saving Private Ryaff", if you get to Ryaff first (which we have done), you still need to rescue his two buddies—sorry! ; ;
Therefore, there are two strategies for this Assault.
The best strategy for this Assault is to have your party wait outside the doors where the NPCs are resting. Have one puller attempt to pull a single Chigoe (one is usually apart from the other two and this is pretty simple to accomplish). Defeat that one and then have your party move in to destroy the other two.
If you pull all three, please note that
Chigoes are easy to
Sleepga. Just make sure you all have the same target and aren't going to wake them all up.
Go up to the resting NPC and if it's a friendly NPC, then yay! If not, quickly take down the
Experimental Undead and move on.
As you traverse the twisting halls, do your best to avoid unwanted aggro. You can farm the fomors here after you have completed rescuing you soldiers, but you don't want to cut yourself short on time.
Rinse and repeat 4 more times. This strategy involves no death and you should have 5-10 minutes to spare.
There is an easy "suicide" strategy where you can win in about 5 minutes flat.
Make sure one of your party members is a
White Mage and have them wait at the (E) location on the map above (Rune of Release).
The other members in your party will brach out, avoiding the
Experimental Undead in the hallways, and each position themselves in front of one of five doorways. At this point, throw up your shadows, use a reraise item (just in case you dont make it to the NPCs), run in, aggroing (but ignoring) the Chigoes, run up next to the resting NPC to "activate" them, and then run away.
If your party all times it right, you can run in, "activate" all 5 NPCs at the same time, and then run for your life. At this point, the WHM can pop the
Chest, and use the
Rune of Release, which warps you all out safely and soundly.
Anyone who died during their "suicide" rooms can get a Raise III from the
White Mage.
Be advised, however, that this plan is riskier because there is more room for error. If you can master this strategy (or until Squeenix changes it), you can easily get your Assault points in 5-10 minutes flat.
Strategy:
(per Naria)
Samurai is particularly good for this one (or /sam). Widescan is helpful but not necessary. There are a few similar ways of going about this, but you don't really need any fancy tricks. If you really wanted to, you might be able to solo this as a thf/nin or nin/thf with some extra speed gear and a lot of reraise items.
non-suicide way
Get ready with your "critical hit" WS and jumps. (What?! Drg is good for something?!) You will go to each room with a P on the map, while avoiding the Es. The Es stand for Experimental Undead. They have a rather mean TP attack and tons of HP. Killable sure, but it wastes a lot of time. They move around so widescan helps you pick a good path, very easy to avoid them entirely.
When you get to a room with a P, have a shadowed up person poke their head in and aggro some chigoes. It's best to get 1 at a time, but with 6 people you can handle 3 at once. They sleep, but with 4k hp, don't try to thundaga3 them. A critical hit will instantly kill them, and many WS make crits. Our Drg got jump crits and our Sam got WS crits… the rest of us didn't do much.
When they're dead, approach the invisible NPC. 2/5 are Experimental Undeads in disguise - just kill those. The other 3/5 are NPCs and they talk at you. You don't need to click or even stick around, once they start talking you're done with them. When you free all 3 NPCs you win.
suicide way
When you come to a room, use fast movement (and have reraise up). Run in and get to the NPC fast, then run outside again before you die. So long as you die outside the room you're good. When the fleas are gone you can raise up and repeat the process.
Personally I wouldn't recommend soloing this, since you'll be weak most of the time and if you die inside the room you can give yourself another rr before you aggro and die again. You could easily do it duo'd with a whm/blm though. Have them stand waaaay back while you do your thing. If you die inside the room they tractor and R3 you. This works because you don't need to touch the NPC at all, just get close to them.
Really though, you might as well just take 3 people, with a drg and sam, (and whm) I expect the fleas wouldn't bother you at all.
