Aquarius

Well today was quite an adventure. After snagging my Ranger AF coffer in Garlaige, Mashengo, Nuku, Esger, Juhle and I (Naria) went to Boyahda Tree for Esger's Dragoon AF coffer. He died just after getting it due to some angry crablings, and Mashengo went back inside to raise him while most of us waited outside. On his way to Esger, Mashengo spots Aquarius and we started talking about it on the shell. Serpentus claimed we could take it down so Juhle, Nuku, and I found it while Esger regained life. As we headed in I saw 3 high level people pass by. When we got to Aquarius they were hovering nearby. Both sides needed to wait for reinforcements. Serpentus outlined his plan, but 2 more of the other party arrived before he did. They still don't move in, however, and when Serpentus reached us I laid shadowbind on Aquarius. Now I haven't had the greatest respect for this ability in the past, but it was amazing in this encounter. We proceeded to do a crazy dance, Nuku and Esger provoked it while Serpentus cast gravity and thunder spells. We ran it in slow circles around Boyadha, keeping it off Serpentus when he needed to regen MP; trying to take pot shots at it all the while. Mashengo healed us when someone got tagged, plus tossed a few nukes. It was intense, but not really difficult. For me it was tons of fun because it was dangerous but very comical at the same time. Everytime shadowbind cycled I was able to buy someone some running distance to escape from its deadly claws.

When it was at 1/4 hp I did a dumb thing, and attacked by accident (trying to use Eagle Eye Shot from the menu), and then disengaged. This left it unclaimed for a second. Nuku was totally on the ball, and Chi Blasted it right away for the reclaim, phew. Soon it was almost dead and one final shadowbind let Serpentus deal the killing damage. Sadly, Esger was running right behind it when I bound it, and it tore him to shreds 3 seconds before it died.

Esger wasn't sad though, because the Damascene Cloth dropped. I knew this guy also had Fransisca, but I didn't realize it was a common drop. Juhle and Serpentus already had one and I was the only person whose main job can use it. Being as it is rare/ex they let me take it. I never thought I'd get one of the "uber" Ranger equips so easily.

A good and profitable time was had by all.
